If you have further questions regarding the new online credential file service, do not hesitate to contact UCS or Interfolio directly:
University Career Services (UCS) is pleased to announce important changes in the delivery and administration of Placement File Services. These changes, designed to enhance the quality of services to University of Houston students and alumni, are introduced following a series of consultations with key UH faculty, staff, students, and alumni. As of September, 2004, UCS is affiliated with Interfolio, a service provider that specializes in online management of placement/credential files. A credential file, or placement file, is a collection of documents showing a job candidate's or graduate/professional school applicant's academic and professional credentials.
Interfolio is now available to University of Houston students and alumni. Interfolio is an economical and convenient way, for example, for a Ph.D. candidate to send academic credentials to a search committee, an undergraduate to send application materials to graduate and professional schools, or a teaching candidate to apply for a teaching position. Generally, credential file will not be needed for a candidate applying a position in business or industry. In these fields, letters of recommendation, if requested, are handled directly between the job candidates and the employer.
Interfolio's Internet service allows the candidate to build an internet portfolio - a complete file of all credentials, including:
UCS career counselors will continue to serve UH students and alumni in the preparation and use of credential files. In addition, UCS staff will serve with Interfolio as co-custodians of the new service. If you have any questions about your file, feel free to contact your career counselor.
