Choose a Major/Career

The first step in choosing a career is to take a look at yourself to identify your skills, interests, personality, and values. Then, you can explore possible occupations based on your self-assessment. UCS has developed career planning guides to help you get started: Self Assessment, Choosing a Major/Career, & Career Checklist.

Resources listed in Self Assessment will help you to identify your interests, skills, personality type, and values. What Can I Do With My Major lists a variety of occupational choices based on the major you choose. Choosing a Career resources will help you with the career decision- making process. Exploring Occupations lists web resources useful for finding out more about different occupational choices. You might also visit the links under Internships to gain practical experience in a specific occupation. You can also search UCAN to identify the current job titles of graduates with your major.

It is recommended that you speak with a career counselor to learn how your self assessment relates to possible careers. Click on "Contact Us" to schedule an appointment.

UCS also offers group workshops on "Choosing Your Major". Please visit the "Events Calendar" for the date/time of the next Choosing Your Major workshop.
